Lessons From Tyler

I lost my dog two years ago during the height of the pandemic. Those of us who love dogs (or any pet for that matter) already know we can learn many life lessons from them.

In memory of her, I would like to share some lessons I’ve learned that I think we humans must take to heart to enjoy life as pets do. Here are my top 10 lessons from Tyler –

  1. When your loved ones come home, always run to say hello.

  2. Never pass up an opportunity to go for a walk.

  3. Allow yourself the experience of fresh air and wind

  4. Run, jump, and play daily.

  5. Upgrade your attention and let people touch you.

  6. Avoid "biting" when just a "growl" would suffice.

  7. On warm days, lay on the grass.

  8. When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.

  9. When someone has a bad day, stay silent, sit.

  10. Drink plenty of water.

For those of you still with your pets, enjoy their companionship; don’t take it for granted as they can teach us to live life joyfully.

I still miss you, Tyler. Run free!
