Blind Builders

A teamwork and communication activity that forces teams to rely only on clear language and trust — simulating real challenges where not all information is visible. Best mid-program when introducing communication themes, or when discussing leadership, trust, or change management

Instructions:

  • Form teams of 5–6.

  • Pick an Architect who can view a sample structure.

  • The Architect describes the structure while team members are blindfolded or turned away.

  • Builders must construct the structure based only on verbal instructions.

  • After 10 minutes, compare builds to the original.

Processing Suggestions:

  • Ask: "What communication habits helped or hindered?"

  • Reflect: How does uncertainty affect leadership and teamwork?
