What is Positive Intelligence?

Positive Intelligence (PQ) is a term coined by Shirzad Chamine to describe the ability to choose your thoughts and emotions in the moment, so that you can perform at your best. PQ is made up of two opposing forces: the sage and the saboteur.

The sage is the wise, compassionate, and creative part of us. The saboteur is the negative, self-defeating, and critical part of us. Chamine found that people with high PQ are more likely to be successful in all areas of their lives.

How to activate your sage and silence your saboteur

There are a few things you can do to activate your sage and silence your saboteur:

  • Identify your saboteurs. The first step to silencing your saboteurs is to identify them. What are the negative voices that you hear in your head? Once you know who your saboteurs are, you can start to challenge their thoughts and beliefs.

  • Challenge your saboteur's thoughts. When you hear a saboteur thought, challenge it. Ask yourself if it is really true. Is there any evidence to support the thought? If not, let it go.

  • Replace your saboteur's thoughts with sage thoughts. When you challenge a saboteur thought, replace it with a sage thought. For example, if your saboteur is telling you that you're not good enough, replace that thought with the sage thought that you are capable and worthy of success.

  • Practice self-compassion. Be kind to yourself and accept yourself for who you are, flaws and all. Self-compassion is essential for silencing your saboteur and activating your sage.

Developing your Positive Intelligence takes time and practice. But it is worth it, because Positive Intelligence can help you to achieve your goals and live a more fulfilling life.
