Preparing the Next in Line Leaders of Emerson
Emerson is a global technology and engineering company providing innovative solutions for customers in industrial, commercial, and residential markets. Emerson Philippines sought to identify the critical dimensions that will help define their next in line leaders. These dimensions could then be used to determine their key talents and distinguish them from those that require support to be more effective in their responsibilities and outcomes.
Project components include the definition of the organization’s standard for competence, assessment of talents against these standards, and a walk through of the coaching process both for key talents and those that have areas for improvement. The following interventions, workshops, activities and tools were used – Competency Card Play, Assessment Center Design + Implementation, Career Planning + Development Workshop, Talent Matrix, and Career Planning + Development Canvass
Through Competency Card Play, Emerson was able to identify the critical dimensions ideal for their leadership positions. An assessment center was designed and implemented to determine which of their talents matched these competencies and standards. The Career Planning + Development Workshop maximized team member performance using the guideline and process for effective coaching. The Career Planning + Development Canvass, meanwhile, helped individuals accept, adjust to, and acquire personal ownership in improving their skills and manage issues that impact their performance.
